Telc / TRKI exam preparation

The Telc exam offers four Russian language certificates, covering all levels from A1-B2. Telc exams closely align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), guaranteeing international comparability of language competence. The exam serves the needs and interests of a wide variety of individuals, groups and organizations.

The exam tests general language competence and focuses on communicative competence, rather than academic skills. The written part lasts between 70 and 150 minutes (depending on the level). The oral examination runs in pairs or small groups creating real-life dialogues and lasts 15 minutes. The telc website offers some more details on the exam.

TELC exam preparation on the individual basis

Knowing the structure and type of tasks of the telc test are essential prerequisites for passing the exam. This is why all candidates should book Russian Language Academy Durbe’s special individual telc exam preparation module (5 lessons per module), scheduled for the week of the exam (Friday is the exam day). This module added to any of the regular courses guarantees the best possible preparation for the exam. Booking deadline is 4 weeks prior to the exam date. Individual telc exam preparation module can be booked in addition to any of our  Group courses.

TRKI exam preparation on the individual basis

This challenging Russian language course prepares students for studies at a Russian-speaking university both in Latvia and abroad. The Course develops overall Russian language knowledge and skills by reaching the necessary language level,  at the same time preparing for the TRKI exam. The excellently structured exam program with a tutor’s personal approach will ensure the success of every student continuing studies at the chosen university or school. Russian Language Academy Durbe’s staff can also assist in finding a suitable institution for future studies. You can book the individual TRKI Exam preparation module in addition to any of the group courses.

TELC exam preparation module

Minimum enrolment – 1 week;

General information about the TRKI exam (in English TORFL – Test of Russian as a Foreign Language)

The Exam is normally held over 2 days and there are five parts.
The first day: Vocabulary & Grammar (50-90 min), Reading (45-60 min) and Writing (50-80 min)
The second day: Listening (25-45 min) and Speaking (45-60 min)
The duration of each of the parts depends on the test level

1 Series of multiple-choice questions where you need to select the right word, ending, etc. Multiple-choice questions based on texts (depending on the level, these range from short texts such as advertisements to newspaper articles). This involves a creative piece of writing: at lower levels, a letter or something similar where you are given instructions on what information to include; at higher levels this may be a piece of criticism based on another text. Multiple-choice questions based on recorded extracts. A number of oral tasks, including: providing responses to fixed dialogues; initiating dialogues in prescribed situations; summarising a text; talking on a prepared topic.

TRKI LEVELS

1 The successful completion of the Elementary level test confirms that the candidate possesses the minimal level of communicative skills, allowing to satisfy the minimal requirements in everyday communication. The successful completion of the Basic level test confirms that the candidate possesses the beginning level of communicative skills, satisfying the minimal requirements in social and cultural communication. The successful completion of this level confirms that the candidate possesses the basic level of communicative skills, satisfying the requirements in social, cultural communication, educational, and professional spheres. The First Certificate is an official document, which allows foreign citizens to enter a Russian University. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the 1st Certificate level is equivalent to Level B1. The successful completion of TORFL-2 confirms that the candidate possesses a rather high level in all areas of communication, and allows them to conduct a professional activity in Russian as an expert in the areas of humanities (excepting philology), engineering and science. This Certificate is needed for obtaining a bachelor`s and master`s degree (excepting degree in philology). According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the 2nd Certificate level is equivalent to Level B2.
